Shizuka and Ren : The Voice of Silence

Created for a personal animation project, this illustration draws inspiration from Japanese anime aesthetics and showcases my passion for visual storytelling and character design.

In a small port town in Japan, a young girl named "Shizuka Ayanami" has a strange ability: when she hears someone’s voice, she can sense their destiny.

But the older she gets, the harder it becomes to hear other people’s voices.

At 17, following a traumatic childhood experience, Shizuka decides to stop speaking almost entirely.

She lives in silence.

After school, she works in an old library near the sea and spends her nights recording the sounds of the world with an old cassette recorder left behind by her late mother.

One day, a new transfer student arrives in her class:

"Ren Kisaragi", a quiet boy whom Shizuka is unable to “read.”

For the first time in her life… she perceives nothing behind a voice.

This silence frightens her as much as it draws her in.

Little by little, their relationship will evolve.
